Alligator Captured At Lake Lanier

Gator Rounded Up Without Incident

The alligator that was spotted in Lake Lanier several times since July was captured Thursday evening.

A Gainesville homeowner at the lake noticed the 3-foot gator in his back yard Thursday and called the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

    A biologist with DNR's Wildlife Resources Division captured the alligator without incident near the Flat Creek area of Lanier.

    The gator was probably released into Lanier illegally, according to DNR officials.

    The animal will be released in south Georgia by the DNR.
