ATLANTA -- Channel 2 presented an exciting new edition of Monica’s Closeups, with music legend Quincy Jones, local vocal coach to the stars, Jan Smith and ABC’s Boston Legal actor Gary Anthony Williams.

Monica got personal with one of the most influential artists in music history, Quincy Jones. He’s been producing, composing and arranging music for more than 60 years. He told Monica about the Georgia singer who had the biggest impact on his life. He also revealed how he stays so young, and how he’s using his star power to bring more attention to others’ needs.

Then, Monica took you inside the Atlanta studio of vocal coach Jan Smith. She’s known as “Mama Jan” in the business. She has helped many stars improve their singing including Usher, Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty and Sugarland to name a few. Monica showed you how “Mama Jan” uses tough love to help stars get pitch perfect.

Plus, we met metro Atlanta native, Gary Anthony Williams. He played the cross dressing attorney on ABC’s hit show Boston Legal. Monica finds out how his quirky character became a part of the show. She also goes with Gary back to where he got his start in Atlanta’s theatre community.
