The NWS in birmingham has issued a lake wind advisory, which is in effect until 3 pm cst this afternoon.
Westerly winds will be sustained between 10 and 15 mph with some gusts of 25 to 30 mph. The winds and gusts will gradually diminish through late the afternoon hours.
A lake wind advisory indicates that winds will cause rough chop on area lakes. Small boats will be especially prone to capsizing.

Winter weather advisory for parts of North Georgia until 1am tonight. 1 to 2 inches of snow is possible, mainly above 2500 feet. Metro Atlanta might see a flake or two, but no problems are expected with temps well above freezing. It will be windy and cold though.

Rest of the day: Mostly cloudy with a chance of light rain mixed with light snow showers in the northern suburbs. Some clearing by late afternoon. Highs in the low to mid 40s. West winds 15 to 20 mph. Chance of precipitation 20 percent.

Tonight: Clearing and cold. Lows in the 20s to low 30s in town.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny. Highs in the mid to upper 40s. West winds 10 to 15 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny. Lows in the low 30s; Highs in the 50s. South winds 5 to 15 mph.

Thursday:Turning Cloudy with scattered showers. Lows in the upper 30s; highs in the low 50s.

Friday: Sunny. Lows in the low to mid 30s; highs near 50.
