She joined Channel 2 in 2006 after moving from Boston, Massachusetts, where she served as the primary evening news anchor at NECN, the largest regional cable operation in the United States.Amanda started her career as a political producer at NBC News Channel in Charlotte, North Carolina, before becoming a primary evening anchor at WRBL-TV in Columbus, Georgia, then a weekend evening anchor and investigative reporter at WTHR-TV in Indianapolis, Indiana. A four-time Emmy winner, Amanda has been honored twice for documentary writing and twice for investigative reporting. She has also won three national awards, including a prestigious Alfred I. DuPont - Columbia University Broadcast Journalism Award for investigative reporting, a national Edward R. Murrow award for documentary, and a Gabriel Award for documentary writing. Amanda has been honored with two regional Edward R. Murrow awards and six Associated Press awards. In addition, Amanda was honored by her alma mater, the Grady College of Journalism with the 2002 John E. Drewry Award for Outstanding Young Alumnus.Amanda has covered numerous memorable news events, from the standoff of the Branch Davidians in Waco, to four Presidential elections and inaugurations. She was involved in extensive coverage of the September 11th attacks, the Rhode Island nightclub fire, and more recently, the Bluffton University bus crash in Atlanta.Amanda is a proud native of Atlanta and graduate of Tucker High School and the University of Georgia; She is also a member of the Grady College Alumni Board.Amanda is a classically-trained violinist and violist, who also enjoys playing golf.She and her husband live in North Buckhead with their son and daughter.
