Eric Philips has been a reporter for Channel 2 since April, 2006.

Eric is an award winning reporter who made a re-entry into the world of local news when he joined the WSB family.

Prior to that he spent nearly five years as a national correspondent for CNN and CNN Newsource based out of the network's Atlanta bureau.

There, assignments took him to the scenes of breaking news from coast to coast.

From the unprecedented presidential election of 2000 to a mudslide in California to the eruption of Mount St. Helens, Eric has been there to give a first hand account.

He also contributed to extensive coverage of the 9-11 terrorist attacks traveling to each of the three crash sites.

Eric first came to Georgia from Norfolk, Virginia where he spent more than three years as a reporter for WTKR-TV. There he produced and hosted a most wanted segment called "Fugitive Files". The highly successful segment helped capture about a dozen criminals, earning a letter of commendation from the director of the FBI. Eric began his on-air career at WBOC-TV in Salisbury, Maryland.

Hampton University in Virginia is where this seasoned broadcaster earned a Bachelor's degree in Mass Media Arts. He is an active part of his church in Smyrna, GA and a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. He and his wife reside in South Fulton County.
