Channel 2's Jocelyn Dorsey is making the trip of a lifetime --- traveling from Fairbanks, Alaska to Key West, Florida on her motorcycle.

Here is her first dispatch from the road.

Hey there, I made it.

Its 6 a.m. here and the weather is 80 degrees.

The worst thing is the sun does not set here until around 1 a.m. and even then it isn't totally dark.

Then at 3 a.m. the sun rises again. So it is very hard to adjust.

Fairbanks is a small town. You can see everything here in about 15 minutes. The biggest attraction in the city is a place called Fred Meyers which someone said is like a Wal-Mart on steroids.

Our biggest adventure yesterday was our journey to North Pole, Alaska.

Yes, Virginia there is a Santa Claus, complete with his workshop and house. Santa was surprised to see us and we took pictures and I even got an interview which I will try to see if I can send back.

There were only a couple of reindeer that were out, really strange looking creatures.

And believe it or not at Santa's workshop a woman came up to me and asked where I was from. I told her Georgia and she asked what part. I told her downtown Atlanta. She said she was from Lawrenceville and thought she recognized my voice from Channel 2. I guess I can't go anywhere incognito.

Everybody here thinks we're crazy to even try to go to Prudhoe Bay and has warned us to of the road conditions. But we didn't come this far to turn back now. As you can imagine I am very nervous about that but the Special Olympics motto is let me win but if I cannot win let me be brave in the attempt.

Today we have a big meeting and will be briefed about our journey to Prudhoe Bay. We start out at 4 a.m. tommorow.
